Reflection
To demonstrate my understanding of curriculum alignment for grades K-12, different organizational systems and structures at all levels, and characteristics of effective transitions from one level of schooling to the next, I have included artifacts such as the learner guide from ED644 that I teach, the meeting notes from the Curriculum Committee that I serve, and a Kindergarten Roundup website that I created for our district. The Curriculum Committee and ED 644 compliment each other well. The Curriculum Committee focused on developing a cycle conducive for our district size, curriculum maps and pacing guides, and vertical and horizontal alignment. A core component of ED 644 is reading High Quality Curriculum Design which identifies 8 key components of effective curriculum. This was something our committee also read and used to guide our work and decisions. The Kindergarten Roundup website helps communicate with students and parents important information and steps needed for their child to begin kindergarten each fall. Additionally, it conveys to students what they can expect in kindergarten to ease any anxiousness he or she may have.
Other components of early childhood through grade 12 leadership is demonstrating the ability to work with parents, teachers, and other staff in all levels of schooling and the ability to work with children of all ages. To highlight my experiences I have included three Google Slide presentations of various professional development sessions that I have led K12 and an open house presentation that I led to grades 4-12 parents. Two other pieces of evidence to highlight my proficiency in this area include a video reflection comparing characteristics of early elementary best schools to characteristics seen in our elementary school and a link to the Makerspace Program I developed as the district's Technology Integration Specialist. This program was geared toward K-6 students.
