Reflection
Many of the artifacts listed above have been discussed in prior competencies. The budgeting video highlights 7 key takeaways I learned from The Principal's Guide to School Budgeting by Goldsmith and Sorenson. It was with these 7 key points that I developed a budgeting interview for my superintendent. This activity confirmed that budgeting and financial decisions should be guided by the school's strategic plan. When this is done, it provides stakeholders with the capacity to meet the goals set forth in the strategic roadmap. It also creates clarity and a positive culture and climate because everyone knows and understands the work that guides every decision. Additionally, I have included the 1:1 Budgeting Proposal I created when I was the Technology Integration Specialist for the district. This was a 5 year plan that I developed and presented to the school board. Both of these artifacts demonstrate my ability to analyze need and allocate personnel and material resources along with developing an managing budgets and maintaining accurate fiscal records.
